Mikeal Steele Memorial Soccer Education Fund

The Mikeal Steele Memorial Scholarship is a tribute to Mikeal Steele who was killed in October 2020 by a drunk driver. He was a student athlete at PCHS and was well known in the Parrish Community. He played soccer with North Manatee Mutiny for many seasons. He started in the recreational and grew up with the club into competitive games and was also a student referee.

Soccer – and athletics more broadly – were Mikeal’s passion, this scholarship Gaylee Steele  has created is with the intention of keeping that passion alive by helping deserving youth in our community to continue to play sports, despite financial disadvantages that could otherwise keep them off the field.

With this scholarship, distributions are awarded to deserving student athletes each year in support of their soccer pursuits. Recipients of this scholarship will need to demonstrate the understanding that persistence, hard work, standing up for those in need, and doing the right
thing for the right reason leads to excellence both on and off the field. All we ask in return is that they wear Mikeal’s mourning black band in remembrance.

An application letter from a prospective recipient will have to be submitted explaining why they feel they deserve this scholarship and why they feel they stand out for excellence. Inquiries can be emailed to – mikealsteele@gmail.com
